The Earth is Flat
Semester 5, Visual Communication, HGK Basel (2025)

This publication speculates on what the world would look like if it were actually flat. Rather than bending the laws of physics like the Flat Earth community does, it applies real logic and physics to explore how trees would behave on a flat Earth. This is visualised through a series of AI images, infographics, and a map. Drawing inspiration from scientific publications, the content is presented factually to balance the humour of the topic. The AI images are laid out revolving around the centre of the book, representing the strongest pull of gravity. Later, the infographics are designed simply with a restrained colour palette, again to present the information factually without being too decorative. The open-back thread binding allows the book to lie completely flat, mimicking the shape of a flat Earth. The cover is simple, with the title running across the centre to the edge, hinting at the question ‘what is at the edge of the flat earth?’.
